Emberfell is live — drop a friend into your tale

July 9, 2026 · the Playpit devlog

Playpit’s fourth original game is out: Emberfell, a third-person adventure across wind-swept highlands, free in your browser.

The tale

The beacons went dark, and you carry the last ember:

  1. Wander the fell — click the ground to walk there, or take the sticks with WASD; orbit the camera, follow the quest tracker over the heather.
  2. Best the bramblings — click one (or press Tab) to face it, then Strike up close or throw an Emberbolt from range. Mind the hills: no clear line, no bolt. Bested bramblings pop into leaves and regrow at their dens a few breaths later.
  3. Relight the Old Beacon — settle the vale, cross the fell to the knoll, and press E. The brazier catches, and your tale is told.

If the fell gets the better of you, the waystone carries you home. That’s the whole adventure — about ten minutes of it — and every seed is a different fell.

The adventure card

When your tale completes (or any time you press P), Emberfell frames the moment as an adventure card: a dusk-toned snapshot with your stats on the plaque and — our favourite part — your actual route drawn on it, every wander and backtrack, from the waystone to wherever you stand. Baked into the card is a drop-in link. The fell regenerates from its seed, so the link carries everything: a friend who opens it lands exactly where your tale ended — same hills, same beacon on the skyline — and starts a tale of their own.

Built kid-safe

Same posture as everything on Playpit: no chat, no accounts, no purchases — and no gore. Bramblings are grumpy shrubbery; besting one is landscaping. Tales save in your own browser and travel only as links you choose to share.

Under the hood

Emberfell is the second game on our 3-D world engine, and it’s the proof we built the engine for: the same terrain streaming, follow camera, and skeletal avatar that power Stackpark, now carrying combat, quests, and mob AI — all layered on the engine’s entity and picking APIs without touching its internals. Structures like the beacon go through the same network seam as Stackpark’s toy parts, which tells you where this is heading: fells with more than one wayfarer on them.

Play Emberfell → — and send us the card. We want to see your route.
